Ferguson Ancient Tartan Gayre Hunting Ancient symbolizing depth and tranquilityHistorical Significance The Ferguson Ancient Tartan is closely linked to the Ferguson clan, or MacFhearghuis, which originates from Argyllshire. This clan includes families such as the Fergusons of Strachur, who claim descent from the Dalraida Royal House, and the Fergusons of Kilkerran, descended from Fergus, who received his possessions under a grant from King Robert I. Sir John Ferguson of Kilkerran, born in 1708, was made Baronet that same year.
